Father God, we thank You that we can come boldly to the Throne of Grace where we can obtain mercy and favor. Lord, we come before You asking that You heal the trauma so many students are dealing with right now. Things are going on in their homes and their neighborhoods—parents who are acting and responding out of their trauma further damage their children.
Lord, we ask for the Balm of Gilead. Send help to the students who are victims of abuse, neglect, poverty, hunger, and lack of basic needs; survivors of those lost to gun violence; help the parents as well. Lord, we need the Balm of Gilead. Send healing across our nation to every school district. Give wisdom to those in charge of Social Emotional Learning, to teach the teachers how to care for the whole child. Have the teachers embrace the fact they are more than facilitators of learning. Teachers are mothers, aunts, grandmothers, counselors, nurses, and so much more to our students.
Lord, give every educator the patience and willingness to see beyond a student's bad behavior and understand their bad behavior is communicating an unmet need. Lord, this work is hard, but we pray for Your strength and grace to do it. In Jesus' Mighty Name, we pray, Amen.
